How does the calculation of chair time work?

Once a patient is added to the waiting room, when the provider opens the patient record in surgery it is assumed the patient has either entered or is about to enter the surgery. This is when the calculation of chair time starts.

Once the provider has finished with the patient they should press the "Save" button at the top of the patient record if the patient is leaving the surgery and the provider wants to keep the record open (perhaps to write up additional clinical notes etc), or if the provider is completely finished they can press the "Save and Close" button.

This will display the "Update Patient Session" dialogue which notifies the program that the patient has completed their session in surgery. It has the effect of sending information to reception about whether the patient needs to be charged, how much they need to pay, whether additional appointments are needed and, as you can see from the image below, it will also update the chair time.

Now a report can be generated called "Chair Time By Provider" which will accurately show how much time patients have spent in surgery.
